Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George IV chiffonier dates from the 1820s and typically features a low cupboard base topped with open graduated shelves supported by turned or carved columns. Constructed primarily from rich woods such as rosewood, these pieces were designed for both storage and decorative display.

Chiffoniers from this era were commonly crafted using solid timber bases with figured rosewood or mahogany veneers. Supporting columns were turned, and fittings often included cast brass door strips, keyhole escutcheons, and working locks.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, hand-sawn veneers showing slight natural irregularities, and period-correct hardware made of cast brass. The underside and back panels generally show original hand-planed timber surfaces.

Place the chiffonier against a neutral or dark backdrop to accentuate the natural figure of the rosewood grain. Use the upper graduated shelves to store books or curate ceramic collections, while utilizing the enclosed cabinet below to conceal modern items.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year to preserve the timber finish. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer cracking or colour fading.
