Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cased silver spoon sets were produced by prominent silversmiths in major manufacturing centres such as Sheffield, Birmingham, and London. Housed in custom fabric-lined wooden cases, these sets were traditionally intended for formal tea or coffee service and given as commemorative gifts.

Spoons from this period were forged or drop-stamped using 925 sterling silver, an alloy composed of 92.5 percent pure silver and 7.5 percent copper for strength. They were finished with stamped hallmarks, polished surfaces, and presented in fitted velvet- or satin-lined wooden boxes.

Authentic British sterling silver items feature official assay office marks. Sheffield pieces bear the distinctive crown mark alongside the lion passant for sterling quality, a date letter representing the year of manufacture, and a makers mark consisting of initials inside a shield.

A boxed set of silver spoons can be displayed open on a dining room sideboard or bar cart as decorative tableware. Alternatively, they can be brought out during coffee service to add traditional metalwork accents to modern dinner settings.

Silver spoons should be washed gently by hand in warm soapy water and dried immediately with a soft cloth. Tarnish should be treated using a specialized silver polishing cloth rather than abrasive pastes, and the presentation case should be kept in a dry environment.
