Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Grapefruit spoons emerged in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as specialized dining utensils designed with tapered or serrated bowls to easily segment and consume citrus fruits. During the mid-twentieth century, presentation sets housed in fitted velvet cases became popular gifts for weddings and special occasions.

British silverware from the 1940s was primarily crafted from solid sterling silver, composed of 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural durability. Pieces were standardly hand-finished or die-stamped, accompanied by fitted display cases constructed from leatherette, velvet, and silk linings.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces bear a complete set of official hallmarks: the lion passant for silver purity, a makers mark, a town mark (such as the leopards head for London or anchor for Birmingham), and a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture, such as 1946.

Cased silver spoon sets can be displayed open on a dining room sideboard or bar cart as a decorative focal point. Alternatively, they can be integrated into contemporary breakfast table settings to add contrast alongside modern ceramic and glass tableware.

Clean sterling silver using a soft cloth and a gentle silver polish formulated to remove tarnish without scratching the metal surface. Store the spoons in their original fitted case or an anti-tarnish cloth pouch in a low-humidity environment to prevent oxidisation.
