Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III furniture, originating between 1760 and 1820, is recognised for classical proportions, restrained ornamentation, and precise cabinetry. Popularised by makers such as Thomas Chippendale and George Hepplewhite, pieces from this era frequently feature dense mahogany, clean structural lines, and square tapered legs.

Georgian side tables were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or fine mahogany veneers, selected for durability and deep reddish-brown tones. Secondary timbers such as oak or pine were typically used for drawer linings and internal structural frames.

Authentic 18th-century furniture exhibits hand-sawn drawer construction, hand-cut dovetail joints, and hand-planed surfaces on unexposed timber. The undersides and back panels commonly show subtle shrinkage and tool marks consistent with period woodworking methods.

A Georgian side table serves as a functional addition in an entryway, hallway, or living room alcove. Combining dark mahogany timber with modern artwork, simple ceramic table lamps, or neutral wall finishes creates an effective balance between historical craft and modern design.

To preserve the timber finish, wipe the surface with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax polish annually in line with the wood grain. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme humidity shifts to prevent timber movement.
