Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III side tables from the late eighteenth century are defined by balanced proportions, clean geometric lines, and the use of rich mahogany. They frequently feature rectangular tops, single frieze drawers with brass handles, and straight or tapered legs.

Primary cabinet woods during this period included solid mahogany and Cuban mahogany veneers, often paired with oak or pine drawer linings. Hardware was typically cast in brass, featuring swan-neck or bail handles with stamped backplates.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, hand-planed secondary timbers, and natural oxidation or shrinkage marks along the grain. The brassware often displays historic patination and original fixing thread marks.

A classic mahogany side table works effectively as an entryway console or hall table when paired with modern artwork or modern ceramic lamps. The dark timber creates visual contrast against contemporary neutral walls.

Regular dusting with a soft dry cloth maintains the surface finish. Applying a thin coat of natural beeswax polish annually protects the patination, and the table should be kept away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight.
