An ''Equation of Time'' bracket clock by FRODSHAM & BAKER of London and Paris.
Clocks of this type are extremely rare and ones by this World renowned company even rarer.
It is understood that a clock identical to this (possibly in a different case) was presented to ''Alfred, son of ALBERT & VICTORIA R, on 5th April 1860 in recognition of his confimation''.
Frodsham & Baker (Mercers ''Chronommeter Makers of the World) were in business from 1809-1862 and their name is closely associated with supplying clocks to Royalty.
Equation of time clocks show the difference between mean time and solar time and the 4 times per year when these coincide. They allow such clocks to be accurately set from a sundial.
A French perpetual calendar clock striking the half hours and the hours on a bell. Rack and snail striking with visible Brocot escapement.
