Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, dating from 1830 to 1837, marks a transition between Regency elegance and Victorian weight. Tables from this era feature robust proportions, bold turnings, deep reeding or fluting on the legs, and high-quality flame mahogany veneers.

These tables were primarily constructed using solid mahogany and mahogany veneers over pine or oak substrates. Extension systems utilised wooden telescopic runners, brass clip fastenings, and heavy brass castors to facilitate movement.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut joinery, original brass castors with period fittings, heavy solid timber construction, and characteristic reeded or lobed leg profiles typical of the 1830s.

Balance the heavy timber presence by pairing the table with streamlined modern upholstered dining chairs or minimalist lighting fixtures. Placing the table on a subtle neutral rug helps anchor the piece within open-plan modern spaces.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and polish periodically using high-grade beeswax. Avoid direct contact with hot items, fluids, and prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or central heating radiators.
