Oak Study Chair - Chicago Original - c1910

A lovely oak original ''J.S.Ford Johnson & Co'' swivel, tilting study chair presented in excellent order.

This Chicago based quality manufacturer was noted for their Mission style furniture at the turn of the century and this piece displays evidence of such in the design of the back-supports of this lovely chair.

The piece offers much in the way of comfort with overall height adjustment, back support angle and rotation. The chair would work excellently in any location, residential or commercial, and would make a fine feature piece or is suitable for daily use.

A solid oak quad form base rides upon later captive ball castors and supports the central engineering where the adjustments for height and angle are made. The upper section rotates around the centre and the seat displays excellent golden oak colour and grain.

Elbow supports rise through curved uprights to provide a sturdy seating position. With a seat height adjustment from 40 - 50cm (15.7'' - 19.7'') and a very generous 51cm (20'') seat width this chair delivers practicality as well as style.

An excellent example of vintage USA craftsmanship and very unusual in this condition. A most desirable and collectible antique.
