Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A serpentine front chest of drawers features a double-curved facade that bows outward in the centre and recedes towards the sides. Popularised in 18th-century European cabinetry, this contoured design adds movement and structural dimension to traditional case furniture.

Traditional walnut commodes are constructed using a solid timber subframe layered with figured walnut veneers, solid carved cabriole legs, and hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers. Metal handles and escutcheons are integrated into the drawer fronts for functional drawer operation.

Authentic period pieces display evidence of historical craftsmanship, including irregular hand-cut dovetail joints, solid wood drawer linings, and natural oxidisation on unvarnished surfaces. Examining the back panel, drawer runners, and hardware placement helps establish structural era authenticity.

Position the chest as a focal feature against a neutral wall to emphasise its wood grain and contoured silhouette. Pair the piece with streamlined contemporary wall art and minimalist tabletop objects to create a balanced contrast between traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

Maintain walnut furniture by placing it away from direct heat sources and sunlight to avoid wood shrinkage and finish bleaching. Clean surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically following the grain of the wood.
