The silvered surface is beautifully heightened with vibrant enamel decoration, creating a striking contrast of colour and texture characteristic of the Art Deco period.
The figure is raised on an impressive stepped Portoro marble base and is signed Le Faguays.

Pierre Le Faguays
Pierre Le Faguays (French, 1892–1962) was born in Nantes, France, and became renowned for the originality and elegance of his Art Deco dancers, many of which drew inspiration from the graceful figures of Tanagra.
Le Faguays was awarded a Medal of Honour for his work in 1927, establishing his reputation as one of the leading sculptors of the period. He was a close friend and artistic associate of Max Le Verrier, and the Le Verrier foundry produced many of his sculptures.
Le Faguays worked under two pseudonyms, Fayral and Guerbe, both derived from family names. Throughout his career, he demonstrated a particular talent for capturing movement, elegant poses and accurate anatomical proportions, qualities for which his work continues to be highly regarded by collectors.
He also produced designs for Goldscheider in Paris under the “La Stèle” label. His artistic output encompassed a wide variety of materials, including bronze, spelter, stone, wood, alabaster and ceramics.
Le Faguays studied alongside his close friend Max Le Verrier at the Beaux-Arts in Geneva. He also maintained a lifelong friendship with sculptor Marcel Bouraine. The three artists studied together and remained closely associated throughout their careers, with Le Verrier's foundry producing numerous works by Le Faguays.
Today, Pierre Le Faguays is recognised as an important figure of the Art Deco movement, particularly celebrated for his dynamic and elegant female dancers, which demonstrate his exceptional understanding of movement, form and proportion.
