A fabulous 1960s double strand cultured pearl necklace, beautifully finished with a substantial garnet and pearl cluster clasp in 9 carat gold.

The necklace is formed from two long strands of smooth, creamy ivory cultured pearls with a rich, attractive lustre. The pearls are pleasingly even in colour and have been professionally hand-knotted and restrung in August 2026, giving both security and a beautifully fluid drape when worn.

The clasp is particularly striking. Set to the centre with a large, deep red oval garnet, it is surrounded by a halo of twelve creamy seed pearls, creating a bold yet elegant floral cluster effect. The warm yellow gold setting provides a lovely contrast to the garnet and pearls and gives the necklace a refined mid-century character.

Dating to 1964, the clasp is fully hallmarked for 9 carat gold, London 1964, and bears the maker's initials H&SL. It is fitted with a secure push box fastening.

At approximately 25 inches overall, this is a wonderfully wearable length, sitting lower on the neckline than a traditional short pearl necklace and giving it an elegant, sophisticated appearance.
