Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Emilian School of painting, centered around Bologna and Modena, is distinguished by its refined composition, harmonious use of colour, and dramatic chiaroscuro lighting techniques heavily influenced by Baroque traditions.

Artisans during this period used ground natural mineral pigments mixed with linseed or walnut oil, applied directly onto hand-stretched linen canvas or wood panels.

Authentic paintings from this era typically exhibit natural age-related craquelure, period-correct stretcher bars or panel construction, and oxidisation marks or historic lining on the reverse.

A classic oil painting serves as an impactful focal point above a mantelpiece or sideboard, providing historic contrast within contemporary minimalist or dark academia interior schemes.

Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight, moisture, and fluctuating temperatures; dust the frame lightly with a soft brush and avoid applying chemical solvents or water to the paint surface.
