Freshfords Fine Antiques has dated these Georgian Mahogany Chest Drawers to the 18th Century.
It is finished with a bold moulded ruler edge above a double stepped moulding, which conceals the original brushing slide. The slide retains its original gilt brass ring pull handles and is constructed in figured, unpolished mahogany. Beneath are two faux mahogany drawers, maintaining the symmetry of the façade.

The chest has an attractive low waisted outline with an unusual drawer arrangement. It is fitted with two drawers positioned at either side, known as end drawers, which account for the pair of faux drawers beneath the brushing slide. This thoughtful arrangement allows the second row of drawers to remain fully accessible even when the brushing slide is extended.

The two short and two long graduated drawers are constructed in English oak with fine Cuban mahogany dovetails and solid mahogany drawer fronts. They retain their original George II gilt ormolu backplates, escutcheons, swan neck handles and gilt brass locks. A particularly pleasing cabinet making detail can be seen when the drawers are opened, where the cabinet maker has carefully marked a faux veneer line along the top edge of each drawer to give the appearance of a veneered front.
The chest stands on shallow mahogany bracket feet above concealed castors, with a solid thumbnail moulding completing the base.
