Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King William IV (18301837), a breakfast table is a circular or oval dining table supported by a single central pedestal column. These tables frequently feature a tilt-top mechanism, allowing the tabletop to be flipped vertically when not in use to save space within a room.

Tables from this period were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods and finished with decorative cut veneers. High-status examples utilised exotic woods such as Brazilian rosewood or mahogany, supported by internal pine or oak frames and fitted with solid brass catch mechanisms.

Authentic William IV tables are characterized by robust, substantial proportions bridging the Regency and Victorian eras. Look for heavy central columns, faceted or turned pedestal shapes, triform plinth bases, boldly carved scroll or lion paw feet, and original brass snap-latch mechanisms underneath the top.

A circular rosewood table functions effectively as a focal point in a formal dining area, hall space, or large entryway. Modern interior designers often contrast the rich, dark wood grain with contemporary upholstered seating or clean, neutral backdrop tones.

To preserve rosewood veneers, keep the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight, which can cause cracking and fading. Clean surfaces with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to maintain the timber finish.
