Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tubelining is a decorative ceramic technique where liquid slip is piped onto unfired clay to create raised outlines, which are then filled with coloured glazes. The method gained prominent popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries within the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements.

Pieces are typically crafted from refined earthenware or stoneware clay bodies. Liquid slip is used for the raised tubelined outlines, followed by the application of metal-oxide glazes that melt and fuse during firing to produce vibrant, translucent colours.

Authentic examples feature distinct raised trailing lines created by hand piping, alongside impressed manufacturer backstamps, shape numbers, or painted artist initials on the underside. Microscopic fine crazing in the glaze layer is also common in mid-20th-century lead-glazed earthenwares.

Position the vessel on a wooden sideboard, mantelpiece, or shelving unit where natural directional light highlights the raised slip texture. Pairing the ceramic with neutral backdrop tones or contemporary glassware allows the polychrome glaze hues to stand out.

Clean gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid submerging earthenware in water or using abrasive chemical cleaners, as moisture can penetrate glaze crazing and cause internal degradation.
