Jacot: French Striking Carriage Clock

Description

HENRI JACOT: a good quality late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK in full working order. This recently overhauled 8-day movement retains its original lever platform escapement with good robust action and is housed within its bright “Corniche” case which has perfect bevelled glass panels to all sides. The white enamel dial is perfect and the blued steel “spade” hands are original. Signed to the backplate with the Jacot trademark and numbered 17462. Guaranteed for at least two years. 12cms tall (handle down). circa 1890

* HENRI JACOT was noted for his fine quality Carriage Clocks, with particularly clear enamel dials. His clocks were usually signed with his trademark: a parrot on a stand with the initials “H” and “J” either side. (A “jacot” is French for a parrot or perhaps a “pretty Polly”)
