Antique 17th century fine quality fitted cupboard in oak, an exceptional and highly unusual piece of early English furniture displaying outstanding craftsmanship.

Very well made and of the finest quality, this rare cupboard is a wonderful example of 17th century cabinet making, combining practical design with a wealth of period character that is seldom found today.

The cupboard is fitted with two doors to the front, which are secured and released using a unique metal pin mechanism inserted from the top, an ingenious and fascinating feature. Opening the doors reveals a wonderfully fitted interior comprising five drawers, arranged as three smaller drawers above two larger examples. Each drawer retains its original handles and fittings, while the cupboard also benefits from its original hand-forged hinges, further enhancing its authenticity and historical significance. Raised on sturdy square legs, the piece has a simple yet elegant form that allows its exceptional construction to speak for itself.

Crafted from beautifully matured oak, the timber displays gorgeous grain, rich colour and a superb timeworn patina that has developed over centuries. Every surface reflects the quality of the materials and the skill of the cabinet maker, resulting in a cupboard with tremendous warmth, character and presence.
