Description

A handsome set of four Victorian mahogany dining chairs, dating to approximately 1860–1880.

The chairs have a restrained and elegant mid-to-late Victorian design, with broad curved top rails supported by turned and reeded uprights. The front legs are particularly attractive, with reeded decoration and turned collars, while the gently swept rear legs give the chairs a balanced classical profile.

Each chair has a generously padded seat upholstered in deep green velvet, which works particularly well against the rich, dark mahogany. The wood has developed an attractive warm colour and patina through age.

Seat height: 46 cm

The set remains in very good antique condition. The frames are solid and stable, with only minor marks, variations in colour and signs of use consistent with their age. The green upholstery is also in good usable condition.
