Also Antique Furniture has dated this Mahogany Serpentine Toilet Mirror to the Georgian era.
The rectangular adjustable mirror plate is contained within a mahogany frame with gilt slip and supported between tapering uprights surmounted by brass finials. Below is a serpentine-fronted base fitted with three small drawers and raised on shaped bracket feet.

The central drawer retains a lock with working key. A retailer's label for Trollope & Colls Ltd, Belgrave Square, London (c.1920–1930) is attached to the underside, providing an interesting element of its later history.

A charming and useful Georgian dressing mirror, combining elegant serpentine form with a wonderfully atmospheric aged plate.

CONDITION
The mirror is in good, solid condition with an attractive colour and patina. The drawers run freely, the central lock has a working key, and the side adjustment screws hold the mirror securely in position.

There are light marks, knocks and wear commensurate with age and use, together with some minor historic losses and repairs to the veneer.
The mirror plate has extensive attractive age-related foxing and silvering deterioration, particularly towards the upper and lower areas, as clearly shown in the photographs. This gives the mirror considerable period character, although buyers wishing to use it primarily as a functional dressing mirror should be aware that the ageing affects the reflected image.

Overall, a very decorative Georgian mirror with an appealing serpentine base, good colour and plenty of period character.
As with all antique and vintage furniture, this piece has been used and enjoyed over many years and should be expected to show signs of age and use. We aim to describe any significant faults, repairs or alterations as accurately and honestly as possible. The photographs form an important part of the description and should be viewed alongside the written condition report.
