Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III bureau bookcase is an eighteenth-century piece of case furniture combining a slant-front writing bureau at the base with a glazed display cabinet or bookcase above. Originating during the reign of King George III, these pieces served as functional writing desks and secure storage for personal collections.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, valued for their durability and rich grain pattern. Interior drawers often utilised oak or pine linings, secured with hand-cut dovetail joints, brass hardware, and hand-blown glazed panes.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn drawer linings, oak secondary timber, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and natural wear around handles and keyholes. Look for original astragal glazing bars, period-appropriate brass fittings, and hand-cut bracket feet.

Position the bureau in a study, drawing room, or hallway as a focal storage piece. Balance the traditional mahogany timber by displaying contemporary ceramics, glass objects, or art books inside the glazed upper cabinet.

Keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight, radiators, and rapid humidity fluctuations to prevent timber movement or veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the finish.
