Our View

The early Omega bumper automatics occupy a special place in the brand’s history. Before the adoption of the full-rotor automatic system, Omega utilised a bumper mechanism that gives these watches a distinctive feel and character on the wrist.

This Seamaster Calendar combines everything collectors look for: an original dial, excellent overall condition, recent service and one of Omega’s most charming movement designs. The fact that it remains so well preserved more than seventy years after production makes it an especially appealing example.

A fantastic vintage Omega that would be equally at home in a collection or worn and enjoyed every day.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bumper automatic movement is an early form of self-winding watch mechanism where the oscillating rotor bounces back and forth between two buffer springs rather than rotating a full 360 degrees. Introduced in the 1930s and prominent through the 1950s, this technology represents a significant evolution in Swiss horological history.

Mid-century wristwatches typically feature stainless steel or gold cases fitted with acrylic crystals to protect the dial. Dials were frequently finished with textured surfaces or applied hour markers and paired with genuine leather wrist straps.

Authenticity is verified by inspecting movement serial numbers, case back reference stamps, and dial print quality. Genuine pieces from the 1950s showcase precise hand alignment, crisp brand typography, and correct movement calibre designations.

A vintage dress watch seamlessly bridges formal and smart-casual attire. Pairing a neutral leather strap with tailored suits or casual knitwear creates a refined, understated accessory accent.

Vintage mechanical wristwatches should be serviced every three to five years by a qualified horologist to refresh internal lubricants and check component wear. Direct exposure to water and strong magnetic fields should be strictly avoided.
