Omega Seamaster Chronostop Ref. 145.008 Wrist Watch 1968

1940 - 1960
Description

This Omega Seamaster Chronostop Ref. 145.008 makes no excuses for being different. Iconic and screaming 70's although this one made in 1968.

Powered by the legendary 865 Caliber manual wind movement this version of the Chronostop features an internal rotating bezel powered which even to this day some 50 years later is hard to find in a watch.

41mm x 47mm steel cushion case that gives it that 70's look despite this one being produced around 1968. Original black dial and white hands. There is clear discolouration giving a patina however like most vintage pieces we stock has been left as original as it can be after a through clean.

Fitted to a steel Omega bracelet with folding clasp that would fit a wrist to 7.75 inches, the bracelet although Omega signed it is a later bracelet added at some point.

Recent full service shows this watch running at +/- 2 seconds per day with an amplitude of 226. Guaranteed for peace of mind for a further 12 months.

The Omega Seamaster Chronostop Ref. 145.008 represents a unique chapter in Omega’s history. Its minimalist chronograph, combined with a diver’s watch aesthetic, makes it an unusual yet highly functional timepiece. It's part of a movement in the late '60s and early '70s where Omega experimented with different styles and practical designs, culminating in a watch that is both visually distinct and mechanically reliable.

The 145.008 is highly sought after among vintage Omega collectors, thanks to its unique combination of diver and chronograph features, as well as the fact that it belongs to the legendary Seamaster family.

Our view - An excellent example of this iconic watch, yes it shows wear and tear and has clearly been well loved and used over the last 50 years. Exceptional working order and a worthy addition to any collection or a first time manual wind Omega.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Introduced in the late 1960s, the Chronostop line was designed as a simplified chronograph targeting sports enthusiasts, featuring a single-pusher movement to measure short time intervals.

Mid-century sports wristwatches were constructed with stainless steel cases, acrylic crystals, manual-wind mechanical movements, and luminous dial markers.

Authenticity can be verified by checking the reference number stamped inside the case back, matching the calibre movement number, and examining dial branding details.

A steel chronograph wristwatch can be paired with tailored clothing for formal settings or styled with casual everyday attire.

Vintage mechanical watches should be serviced every three to five years by a qualified watchmaker, kept away from magnetic fields, and kept dry.
