Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale bookcases, dating from the mid-to-late 18th century, feature classical Georgian proportions, astragal glazed doors, carved cornices, and high-quality mahogany timber, inspired by Thomas Chippendales published designs.

These bookcases were constructed primarily from dense West Indian or Cuban mahogany, featuring oak drawer linings, hand-blown glass panes set within timber astragal moulding, and solid brass drop handles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary woods, hand-drawn glass with subtle irregularities, hand-planed backboards, and period-appropriate cast brass hardware.

Position the cabinet as a focal architectural piece against a neutral or saturated wall, styling the upper shelves with a mixture of leather-bound books, contemporary ceramics, and framed art objects to blend historic and modern aesthetics.

Position the cabinet away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent timber movement, dust regularly with a clean lint-free cloth, and apply beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to nourish the mahogany.
