Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Breakfront bookcases feature a central section that projects forward beyond the flanking side wings. The Chippendale style typically incorporates formal Georgian proportions, glazed doors with geometric or lattice astragal glazing bars, and panelled lower cupboard doors.

These pieces are predominantly constructed using solid mahogany and rich mahogany veneers over hardwood carcasses. Traditional joinery techniques include hand-cut dovetail joints on internal drawers, precise lap-jointed astragal glazing, and fielded panel cupboard doors.

Authentic 18th-century pieces and high-grade 19th-century revivals feature hand-blown glass panes, hand-planed back panels, and original brass fittings. Inspection of the timber reveals dense, dark mahogany with detailed hand-carved decorative mouldings.

A substantial breakfront bookcase serves as a focal piece in a formal study, dining room, or library setting. Contrast the dark mahogany wood against modern neutral wall tones, and curate the display with structured arrangements of books, ceramics, or sculpture.

Clean the glass panes using a microfibre cloth lightly moistened with a water and vinegar solution, avoiding contact with the timber. Wax the mahogany surfaces twice yearly with a dedicated beeswax polish, buffing along the direction of the grain to preserve the finish.
