Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco furniture from the 1930s is defined by geometric shapes, clean lines, and smooth surfaces, departing from elaborate Victorian carvings. Manufacturers frequently utilised figured wood veneers, such as burr walnut or birds eye maple, alongside chrome or bakelite hardware to reflect modern industrial aesthetics.

Pieces from this era typically feature a solid hardwood or softwood core faced with decorative cut veneers like burr walnut, mahogany, or oak. Hardware often incorporated chrome-plated brass, solid timber mouldings, or early plastics like bakelite.

Authentic period pieces exhibit period-correct construction techniques, including dovetail joints on drawers and original metal or timber hardware. Look for makers stamps or brass plaques from prominent manufacturers of the era, as well as natural aging on interior unvarnished woods.

A walnut tallboy functions well as a focal piece in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway. Pairing the warm timber tones with neutral wall colours, contemporary lighting, or minimalist accessories allows the geometric grain patterns to stand out without overwhelming the space.

Keep walnut veneer pieces away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent drying and fading. Regular dusting with a soft, lint-free cloth and occasional application of high-quality beeswax nourish the wood and maintain its original finish.
