Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian mahogany Lazy Susan is a revolving wooden tabletop tray designed during the nineteenth century to facilitate serving food and condiments during meals. It consists of a circular upper platform mounted on a central rotating mechanism and a weighted pedestal base.

Mid-nineteenth-century Lazy Susans were primarily constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, using hand-turned central spindles and brass or steel swivel mechanism rings. The bases feature heavy, turned moulded profiling to maintain stability during rotation.

Authentic mid-nineteenth-century examples show signs of hand-lathe turning, authentic timber shrinkage causing subtle ovality rather than perfect circular geometry, and original mechanical brass collar fixings beneath the pedestal base.

Position the piece at the centre of a contemporary or traditional dining table, using it as a rotating display base for fruit bowls, decanters, or seasonal floral arrangements. Alternatively, style it on a sideboard or kitchen island as an elevated serving tray for oils and condiments.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly along the grain. Avoid placing hot items directly onto the timber and keep the mechanism clear of moisture to prevent wood swelling or metal oxidisation.
