Also Antique Furniture has dated this Regency Rosewood Open Bookcase to the Regency era.
This is an attractive William IV rosewood open bookcase, dating from around 1835.
The restrained architectural form is characteristic of the William IV period and showcases the striking natural figure and colour of the rosewood veneers.

The interior is fitted with three adjustable shelves, allowing the bookcase to accommodate books and decorative objects of varying sizes, while the shallow depth makes it particularly practical for modern interiors where floor space is at a premium.

A handsome and versatile early nineteenth-century bookcase, equally suited to a study, sitting room or library.

CONDITION
Presented in good antique condition. There are the expected marks, knocks and surface scratches consistent with age and use. Minor historic veneer repairs and small losses are present in places, as is typical for furniture of this period. The shelves are adjustable and the bookcase remains structurally sound throughout.

One side has been ebonised at some point during its life, while the opposite side retains its rosewood finish. As is common with antique furniture intended to stand against a wall, this does not detract from its practical use. The bookcase displays an attractive colour and pleasing overall patina.

As with all antique and vintage furniture, this piece has been used and enjoyed over many years and should be expected to show signs of age and use. We aim to describe any significant faults, repairs or alterations as accurately and honestly as possible. The photographs form an important part of the description and should be viewed alongside the written condition report. If you would like further information or additional photographs, we are always happy to help before purchase. If there are any critical dimensions then please check these with us before purchase.
