Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tavern tables were functional surfaces originally designed for use in public houses and inns during the 18th and 19th centuries. They typically featured sturdy wooden frames, often with trestle or cross-frame bases, constructed to withstand heavy daily use.

These tables were primarily constructed from durable hardwoods such as oak, elm, or pine. Construction often incorporated stretchers, pegged mortise-and-tenon joints, or iron bracing to reinforce the trestle structure.

Authentic pieces display evidence of period craftsmanship, including hand-sawn wood marks, hand-forged iron hardware, and natural wear patterns along footrests and table edges. Original joinery techniques, such as wooden pegs rather than modern steel screws, also indicate historical origin.

A tavern table functions as an anchor in a contemporary dining space when paired with modern upholstered chairs or sleek metal seating to create visual contrast. The natural wood grain and painted base complement both minimalist and traditional design schemes.

Preserve the surface by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax paste to nourish the timber. Avoid exposure to direct heat sources or excess moisture, and clean spills immediately with a damp, lint-free cloth.
