Also Antique Furniture has dated these Regency Mahogany Lyre Armchairs to the 19th Century.
A handsome pair of 19th century Regency style mahogany armchairs of elegant lyre back design.
Traces of the original parcel gilding remain within the carved details, adding further character and highlighting the quality of the workmanship.

Well-proportioned and decorative, these chairs would work equally well in a drawing room, hallway or bedroom, offering an elegant classical influence. Their refined proportions and attractive patina make them an appealing pair for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

DIMENSIONS
Height: 90 cm
Width: 56 cm
Depth: 47 cm
CONDITION
Presented in good antique condition consistent with age and use.
The frames display the expected marks, knocks and surface scratches associated with nearly two centuries of use. The original parcel gilding has worn naturally over time, leaving attractive traces within the carved decoration. There is evidence of historic, inactive woodworm.

One chair has undergone historic structural repairs to the underside. Both chairs remain solid, although, as is often the case with antique cane furniture, they are best suited to occasional or decorative use rather than heavy everyday use. The cane seats remain largely intact with only light age-related wear.

Overall, this is an attractive, well-carved pair with good colour and pleasing proportions.
As with all antique and vintage furniture, this piece has been used and enjoyed over many years and should be expected to show signs of age and use. We aim to describe any significant faults, repairs or alterations as accurately and honestly as possible. The photographs form an important part of the description and should be viewed alongside the written condition report. If you would like further information or additional photographs, we are always happy to help before purchase.
