We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian silver wine coasters, also known as wine slides, were introduced in the late eighteenth century to hold wine bottles or decanters and allow them to be slid smoothly across polished dining tables without causing scratches.

Traditional wine coasters feature a raised rim constructed from sterling silver or silver plate, paired with a turned wooden base, frequently mahogany, fitted with a central silver boss and green baize fabric on the underside.

Authentic pieces carry official British assay hallmarks stamped on the silver body or rim, including the makers mark, sovereigns head duty mark, lion passant for sterling purity, city mark, and a date letter corresponding to the George III period.

These coasters can be placed on a dining table, sideboard, or drinks trolley to hold modern wine bottles or crystal decanters during formal entertaining or display.

Clean the silver elements using a soft silver polishing cloth, taking care not to submerge the turned wooden base in water, and periodically dust the interior wood and base fabric.
