Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cocktail picks emerged alongside the rise of cocktail culture in the 1920s and 1930s. Silversmiths produced sets topped with novelty cast finials, such as British fauna, game birds, and hunting motifs, to serve olives, cherries, and garnishes at social gatherings.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver or electroplated nickel silver. The finials were created using precision metal casting, and sets were frequently stored in fitted timber or leatherette cases lined with silk and velvet to protect the delicate shafts.

Authentic British silver items from the George V period feature hallmark stamps along the slender shaft or near the finial. These marks denote the silversmith, assay office, silver purity standard, and date letter corresponding to the early twentieth century.

Cased silver bar accessories can be presented open on a sideboard top, drinks trolley, or tray alongside crystal glassware. They serve as functional barware during entertaining or as standalone decorative objects within a dedicated bar display.

Silver components should be cleaned gently using a soft, non-abrasive silver cloth to remove oxidisation without wearing away delicate cast details. Avoid dipping liquid cleaners that can damage joints or delicate metals, and store pieces in their original silk-lined fitted case to minimise atmospheric tarnish.
