Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on stand, historically known as a highboy or tallboy, comprises a upper chest of drawers mounted on an elevated supporting frame or stand. Originating in the late seventeenth century, the design raised storage drawers to an accessible height and remained popular through subsequent revival periods.

Edwardian walnut chests typically feature solid walnut frames or pine carcass construction surfaced with figurative burr walnut or walnut veneers. Drawer linings are often constructed from oak or pine, fitted with cast brass handles, drop pulls, and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic Edwardian pieces often blend Queen Anne or Georgian revival features with early twentieth-century construction techniques. Look for hand-cut or fine machine dovetail drawer joints, original brass hardware, authentic wear around keyholes and handles, and natural patination on timber surfaces.

A compact chest on stand functions well as focal storage in hallways, living rooms, or bedrooms. Its elevated legs create visual lightness, allowing it to pair effectively with contemporary artwork, modern lighting, and minimalist surrounding decor.

Keep walnut furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage and veneer fading. Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly twice a year to preserve the timber finish and lustre.
