Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Double bar brooches became popular in the late 19th century as tailored daywear favoured linear, understated jewellery pieces designed with twin parallel gold bars supporting a central motif.

Victorian jewellers frequently used 15ct golda British standard purity enforced between 1854 and 1932accented with seed pearls, sapphires, rubies, and hand-worked wirework or filigree.

Authentic late Victorian pieces often feature hallmarks for 15ct gold (.625 purity), makers marks, period-appropriate c-clasps or tube hinges, and extended pin stems that protrude slightly past the body.

A Victorian bar brooch can be pinned to the lapel of a tailored blazer, used to fasten a silk scarf, or positioned on the collar band of a button-down shirt.

Clean gently with a soft, microfibre cloth and store separately in a cloth pouch to prevent scratching; avoid liquid immersion, chemical cleaners, or ultrasonic tanks that can damage organic pearls.
