Sturmans Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The sprung steel frame is fully operational with no damage or repairs. Original black fabric covering has some minor damage, as to be expected after over 100 years, and has the original makers rosette to the centre of the umbrella, which is visible when it is open. The silver handle bears the makers mark for Birmingham silversmiths John Satchwell & Co along with clear hallmarks. Presented in excellent condition but with some deterioration to the fabric covering. The depth quoted is when the umbrella is open and the width quoted is across the handle.
