Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian silver tankards typically exhibit a tapered cylindrical body, often constructed with a central moulded girdle band, a stepped skirt base, and a domed cover with a scroll thumbpiece. Produced during the eighteenth century, these vessels reflected the balanced proportions and classicising influences of the era.

These vessels were hand-raised from sheet sterling silver, containing 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural durability. Handles, thumbpieces, and base mouldings were cast separately in sand moulds and silver-soldered to the main raised body.

Authentic eighteenth-century British silver carries a series of official hallmarks stamped by an assay office, including the leopards head for London, the lion passant for sterling purity, a date letter, and a registered makers mark. The physical weight, hand-worked internal surface texture, and joinery lines also help verify authenticity.

An antique silver tankard works effectively as a decorative object when displayed on a dark timber sideboard, a open bookshelf, or a glass bar cart. Its polished metallic surface provides a reflective accent against textured wall coverings, stone tops, or dark wood backgrounds.

Clean sterling silver using a specialised, non-abrasive silver polish applied with a soft cotton cloth or sponge. Avoid chemical dip cleansers and humid storage conditions, and buff gently to maintain the naturally developed surface patina.
