Antique Georgeiii Silver Pint Tankard, William Grundy, London 1770

Description

An elegant antique George III silver pint tankard of baluster form. Made in London in 1770 by William Grundy. He was apprenticed to Edward Vincent an accomplished London silversmith and Grundy became a freedman in 1739. Towards the end of his working life he was in partnership with Edward Fernell, Grundy died around 1780. This tankard has a full set of hallmarks underneath and an "S" scroll handle topped with an acanthus leaf. There is no inscription or any erasures. An exceptional piece of Georgian silver in excellent condition.
