Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III style furniture typically reflects eighteenth-century English design, characterised by balanced proportions, clean symmetry, and functional drawer arrangements such as two short drawers over three long drawers set upon bracket feet.

Traditional chests from or styled after this era are constructed from solid woods like oak or mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, brass swan-neck handles, cast keyhole escutcheons, and solid timber drawer linings.

Authentic period construction or quality early twentieth-century revival pieces display visible dovetailing at the drawer corners, hand-planed back panels, natural wood grain variation, and genuine wear around handle locations and base runner edges.

Place the piece against neutral or deeply painted walls to accent the oak grain, pairing the timber with modern table lamps, contemporary artwork, or minimalist glass accessories to balance traditional and contemporary aesthetics.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year following the wood grain. Position the furniture away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or splitting.
