Rare E17thc Inlaid Scottish Oak Masters Armchair

Description

Originally from the scottish borders a superb original early 17thc oak and parquetry master,s chair c1640.

From the reign of the james 1st/2nd a rare survivor in original form.

It measures 120cms h 58cms d 49cms w

The colour and patination are original and superb. Virtually no repairs or additions.

It is rare to see genuine marquetry inlay in a piece of this age. We think the back panel is a thistle.

There is a natural join in the chair seat caused by wood shrinkage over the ages and an 18thc repair ( dowelled to one upright).

What an armchair!!

It is completely stable and ready to use in any period furnishing scheme.

A great opportunity to acquire a super 17thc period armchair or should I say " masters chair"
