Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late nineteenth century as a reaction against industrial mass production, Arts and Crafts furniture emphasises visible craftsmanship, simple geometric forms, and natural materials. Chairs from this movement often feature vertical spindles, honest joinery techniques, and functional proportions.

Solid English oak was the dominant material due to its prominent grain and historical connection to traditional craftsmanship. Seats were typically upholstered in wool, leather, or woven fabrics, often secured with metal studs or dome-headed tacks.

Authentic pieces feature exposed construction details such as mortise-and-tenon joints, pegs, and hand-cut spindles rather than modern adhesives or hidden screws. Look for natural quarter-sawn oak grain patterns and proportions aligned with key designers of the period.

Pair these architectural chairs with a minimalist solid wood dining table to highlight their vertical silhouette. Combining warm timber tones with neutral wall palettes creates a balanced environment that bridges traditional craftsmanship and contemporary living.

Maintain oak frames by regularly dusting with a soft cloth and applying beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood. Keep seating away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and fabric fading.
