Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These clocks typically feature heavy architectural forms inspired by classical Greek or Roman structures, constructed from polished black slate or marble, often accented with colourful marble inlays, brass dials, and gilt incised engravings popular during the mid-to-late 19th century.

Mid-19th-century French and British mantel clocks commonly utilised Belgian black slate or Nero Marquina marble for the main casing, decorative rouge marble for columns, alongside cast brass bezels, spring-driven French movements, and enamel dial rings.

Authentic pieces usually showcase heavy solid stone casings rather than veneered wood, precise movement maker stamps on the backplate such as F. Marti or Samuel Marti, and hand-gilded or incised geometric scrollwork.

Position the clock centrally on a period fireplace mantelpiece, a dark wood sideboard, or within a home office bookcase to create a strong focal point that connects traditional craftsmanship with contemporary spaces.

Dust the stone housing regularly with a soft dry cloth and clean periodically using a specialised marble cleaner, avoiding acid-based solutions, while ensuring the mechanical movement is serviced every five to seven years by a horologist.
