Description

A quite superb early 19th century late French Empire patinated and gilt bronze ormolu 'Trophies of War' mantel clock. Drum movement housing decorated with finely cast selection of classical weapons, armour, standard and Greek style helmet sitting upon two patinated bronze winged lions. Gilt bronze base with a rellef of Vulcan's forge in the act of creating weapons. Eight day movement later adapted to a Brocot type mecanism. France, circa 1820.
