Antique Victorian Davenport Desk

A Victorian Walnut Davenport Desk of attractive compact proportions, beautifully figured throughout and retaining much of its original character. The sloping writing surface features a later painted writing panel, framed by finely engraved decoration to the surrounding walnut veneer. Above sits a stationery compartment with a hinged lid opening to reveal a fitted interior with divisions for letters and correspondence.

The interior writing compartment opens to provide useful storage and incorporates a series of small pigeonholes beneath the slope. One side is fitted with a bank of drawers, whilst the opposing side features matching dummy drawers. Raised on shaped scroll supports terminating in castors. A charming and highly decorative Victorian desk with excellent colour and figuring throughout.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition with age-related wear, marks and surface scratches consistent with use. The writing surface has been painted rather than retaining its original leather insert. General wear to the polish and veneer in places, as expected for a piece of this age. Drawers run well and the desk remains structurally sound and ready for use.

In case of return, items must be received back in the same condition as delivered and a collection fee of £85 will apply, this would be deducted from any refund amount.
