Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III oak furniture, produced in Britain between 1760 and 1820, is defined by rectilinear forms, practical construction, and balanced proportions. During this period, regional cabinetmakers utilised native English oak to craft functional domestic tables, chests, and chairs characterised by simple moulding details and tapered or turned legs.

18th-century oak tables typically feature mortise and tenon joinery secured with wooden pegs, hand-dovetailed drawer boxes, and hand-sawn timber boards showing subtle irregularities. Tops were often attached using wooden buttons or pocket screwing, allowing natural movement across the wood grain.

Authentic Georgian oak tables display signs of age such as uneven shrinkage across the top boards, hand-cut dovetail joints, wear on lower stretcher rails or feet, and cast brass hardware with hand-cut threads. Original patination inside drawers and underneath the tabletop also confirms historical authenticity.

A Georgian oak side table works well as an entryway console or hallway accent piece when paired with contemporary abstract artwork or contemporary ceramic vessels. The clean lines of square tapered legs complement modern minimalist spaces while adding texture and warmth.

Preserve antique oak by applying a thin coat of natural beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain hydration and luster. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources such as radiators and out of direct sunlight to prevent timber movement and fading.
