Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Fold-over tea tables were developed in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as adaptable furniture, designed to rest flat against a wall as a console table when closed and open into a expanded surface for serving tea or entertaining.

These pieces typically feature solid mahogany timber decorated with rich veneers, accented by contrasting satinwood crossbanding, boxwood stringing, and floral marquetry inlays on tapered legs.

Authentic pieces from circa 1880 display refined neoclassical marquetry motifs, hand-fitted brass hinges, crisp satinwood borders, and slender square tapered legs terminating in spade feet or subtle stringing.

Position the table closed against an entryway wall or behind a sofa as an accent piece, styling the top with a contemporary table lamp and decorative ceramics to balance the detailed woodwork.

Dust regularly using a soft microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly along the timber grain, keeping the piece clear of radiator heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer movement.
