Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco bronze sculptures gained popularity during the 1920s and 1930s, frequently depicting theatrical dancers, acrobats, and dynamic female figures. Sculptors captured energy and movement through fluid lines and expressive poses, often influenced by contemporary dance and cabaret performance.

These sculptures were typically cast using the lost-wax (cire perdue) process, allowing for high fidelity in capturing hand-modelled detail. Chemical patination was subsequently applied to the cold metal surface to create nuanced dark brown, green, or black tones.

Authentic period bronzes display crisp casting details, sharp crisp fingers and facial features, and natural wear patterns on high points. Look for incised artist signatures on the bronze or base, correct foundry marks, and appropriate weight consistent with solid cast metal.

Place a bronze sculpture on a mantelpiece, marble sideboard, or inside a glass cabinet to act as a focal accent. Focused spotlighting highlights the contours, muscular detail, and patinated surface variations of the metalwork.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry, soft-bristled brush or clean microfibre cloth. Avoid using liquid polishes, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, applying a thin coat of clear microcrystalline wax periodically to protect the patina from oxidisation.
