An Italian silver gilt and marble Grand Tour desk weight, circa. late 19th century.
The carved sienna marble base is surmounted with a silver gilt infant on a bed, possibly after ''The Birth Of The King Of Rome''. Italian hallmarks to the mount.
There are some signs of wear commensurate with age throughout, namely a few small chips to the marble in places and tarnishing to the gilt but overall the piece displays well.
