Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain refers to Japanese export ceramics produced in the Arita area of Hizen province and shipped via the port of Imari. It is characteristically decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron red, and gilded highlights.

These chargers are formed from dense porcelain clay and fired at high temperatures. The initial design is applied in underglaze cobalt blue before firing, followed by overglaze enamel paintwork and gold leaf applied during subsequent lower-temperature firings.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-painted brushwork with slight variations rather than transfer prints, along with natural wear to the gilded edges. The underglaze blue shows depth variations, and spur marks from kiln support pegs are often visible on the underside.

An Imari charger can be displayed upright on a plate stand upon a sideboard, or hung on a focal wall. Its rich blue and rust tones provide structured colour and visual texture within classical and contemporary interior spaces.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking in water, using chemical detergents, or applying abrasive pads, as these will erode the delicate overglaze enamels and gilding over time.
