Regency Mahogany Sofa Table

A fine quality Regency mahogany and amboyna crossbanded sofa table with drawers to each side in outstanding condition c.1825. Oblong form with solid figured mahogany top and D shaped drop leaves to each end. The table top surface banded with a broad strip of amboyna and strung with fruitwood, plus a reeded finish to the surface edge. Two drawers to the front and matching drawers to the rear, one on each side being a dummy drawer, the drawers with amboyna banding and cockbead edges. The top sat on a twin pedestal base with oblong uprights and splayed feet; the feet capped with brass shoes and castors to the underside. The drop leaves lifting to extend the table by 12" at each side and are supported by arms to the undersides of the leaves. Presented in immaculate condition with no cracks or twisting to the surface, and with a rich even colour and polish throughout.
