Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Nests of tables, originally termed quartetto tables when made in sets of four, emerged in the late eighteenth century and gained widespread popularity during the Regency and Victorian eras. Designed by cabinet makers such as Thomas Sheraton, they were created to offer flexible entertaining surfaces that stored compactly.

High-grade hardwoods like satinwood, mahogany, and rosewood were predominantly favoured for these pieces. Craftsmanship typically involved cut veneer panels, delicate crossbanded borders, and fine wood marquetry mounted on solid timber frames.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut joinery, thin timber back-runners, hand-turned bamboo or spindle legs, and natural patination on the underside of each tabletop. Later reproduction pieces usually exhibit uniform machine stitching, modern screws, and synthetic varnish finishes.

Positioning the set beside a sofa allows individual tables to be pulled out as needed for guests while maintaining a small footprint when stacked. The warm wood tones contrast effectively against clean neutral upholstered seating and minimalist soft furnishings.

Clean surfaces regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly to preserve the timber nourish. Keep the tables away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent veneer warping or colour fading.
