1912 Waltham Traveler Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

1912 Waltham Traveler pocket watch.

The watch has a seven jewel stem-winding movement, Traveler grade, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 18,778,196 which dates it back to 1912. The movement is protected by an inner protective cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold filled and it is in good condition, just some fairly gentle unevenness to the case back and general light surface marks.

The acrylic lens is in good condition, as is the signed dial with just a very short faint hairline towards the top of the dial, very difficult to see with the naked eye.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Waltham Traveler is a mechanical pocket watch movement produced by the American Waltham Watch Company, manufactured extensively during the late 19th and early 20th centuries for reliable daily timekeeping.

Pocket watches from the Edwardian period commonly featured gold-filled or solid gold cases, porcelain or enamel dials, glass crystals, and steel or brass internal movement components.

Authentic pieces feature unique serial numbers engraved directly onto the watch movement, which correspond to specific production dates in surviving factory records, along with signature markings on the dial and case.

A mechanical pocket watch can be worn using a traditional chain suspended from a waistcoat or jacket pocket, or displayed upright on a specialized watch stand as a decorative desktop accent.

Store the timepiece in a dry environment away from magnetic sources, wind the mainspring carefully without over-tightening, and have the internal mechanism cleaned and lubricated by a professional horologist periodically.
